![]() You have about 20/25 mins at the Memorial, which I found quite quite profound and touching, and the entrance & exit organisation excellent. The far end of the Memorial has a wall of remembrance, which also includes a dedication to the Arizona survivors, who have since passed on. How much you see is very much dependent on the height of the tide. The Memorial itself is quite an impressive design with good views of the wreck just beneath. The trip out to the memorial after the film only takes 5 or so minutes, but gives you a good impression of just how big a site Pearl Harbor is. When we passed the kiosk after our visit to the memorial around 1.15pm, they were all sold out. Word of warning these tickets are limited on a first come, first served basis, we got ours around 11am for a 11.30 trip, which takes overall 90 minutes. However to take this trip, you have to get timed tickets (which are free) from a kiosk near the main entrance. Both my wife and myself found this most interesting and helped us appreciate what the visit is all about. To reach it you go by tender, after being taken into a theatre by the pier to watch an approx 30 min black/white film about the events leading up and the attack itself. The main reason most visitors come here for is to see the Arizona Memorial, which is quite a modern structure built in the 60s over the wreck which still sits where it sank in the quite shallow harbor waters. Delighted to find that entrance to site was free, but payment needed to visit the submarine, USS Bowfin and battleship, USS Missouri, which you have to take a shuttle to via a bridge across the harbor. the same day as that fateful date in 1941!! Short walk past car park to the Security check at main entrance, where we were directed to leave our bags at a special Left Luggage Depot curity all around the site very tight. We arrived at 10.45 and it was quite busy already (Sunday morning ). We took a No14 from close to the Aloha Tower, which took around 35 minutes to reach the Pearl Harbor site and dropped us off practically outside the front gates. Trips from our ship quite expensive, but we found that as Seniors we could get a special Day Pass on the local Buses, for $2 best bargain of our trip. ![]() Visiting Oahu on a Cruise, simply had to visit Pearl Harbor, a place I've wanted to see ever since I can remember. ![]()
